Detroit Endorsement Committee Information
The 12th Congressional District Democrats are proud to begin our 2025 Detroit Endorsement Committee process—an organized, transparent, and community-driven effort to evaluate candidates seeking local office in the City of Detroit. Our goal is to support leaders who align with Democratic values, demonstrate a deep understanding of the issues impacting Detroit residents, and show a strong commitment to equity, accountability, and public service.
This year’s endorsement process includes candidate interviews, policy evaluations, and public engagement with members of the 12th District. Candidates are invited to participate in a series of panel interviews where they will be asked about their positions on critical issues such as neighborhood development, public safety, affordable housing, economic justice, transportation, education, and more. These forums allow members of the endorsement committee—and, in some cases, the public—to hear directly from those who wish to serve.
The Endorsement Committee is made up of trusted Democratic leaders, activists, and community members who carefully review candidate histories, voting records, public statements, and community impact. All candidates are evaluated based on their alignment with Democratic values, their vision for Detroit’s future, and their ability to serve with integrity.
After this process, the committee will issue recommendations to our full body that will vote on June 14, 2025, to issue the official endorsements to the candidates who best reflect the priorities and needs of Detroiters and the Democratic Party. These endorsements help guide voters in making informed decisions at the ballot box.
We encourage all members of the 12th Congressional District to stay engaged, ask questions, and support the democratic process as we work together to elect leadership that will move Detroit forward.
